Cluster is a network of eight small to medium sized visual arts organisations that are each located in residential areas on the peripheries of major cities, all within Europe (with the exception of Holon). Each of these organisations are actively involved in their local contexts, fostering their embeddedness within their surroundings.
Following meetings and site visits in Utrecht, Paris, Madrid, Stockholm and Holon, the Cluster network will meet in London to exchange knowledge on how the organisations in the network operate in relation to their local contexts.
For the public event on the evening of 23 May, the director of each organisation in the network will give a ten minute presentation on their organisation. The event will focus on durational, long-term projects that builds different kinds of publics, relationships and commitments over extended time periods. This will be followed by a conversation, for which the group will be joined by Chris Dercon, Director of Tate Modern and Ralph Rugoff, Director of Hayward Gallery.
