Rana Hamadeh in conversation with curator and writer Carolina Rito to discuss her new film commission for The Showroom. The Sleepwalkers is the latest chapter in Hamadeh’s ongoing project Alien Encounters, which aims at further complicating the notion of ‘alienness’, understood broadly as the condition of estrangement with regard to the law.

Carolina Rito is a researcher and curator currently teaching in the Visual Cultures Department at Goldsmiths, University of London. Carolina’s research and teaching focus on the conjunctions of curatorial studies, exhibition histories, and contemporary art practice and theory in the field of visual culture. Her PhD in Curatorial/Knowledge - Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London - investigates contemporary affects and the aesthetics of the ‘new’ of the Portuguese revolution through militant, documentary and essay cinema.
