Savita Prashant is a freelance journalist based in in Maharashtra, India. She trained as a journalist at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, and now works with the Indian channel ETC.
Her recent documentary Masanwata is a film based on the nomadic community of Masanjogi from Maharashtra. Shot in the Latur district of Maharashtra, the film portrays the lives of a community who have worked at cremation grounds for generations. While presenting the narratives of their everyday life, Masanwata depicts the present identity and challenges faced by the community.
